I chose this image as I was very recently divorced from a man who left me when I became ill. I was hospitalized part of 11 months out of the past year, and received no calls or visits from anyone.
I am finally back on my feet. My body reminds me of a broken car because sometimes when you try to fix one thing on the car, something else gives. The classic car reminds me that I still have my dignity and value in others eyes.
5]I take care of myself first of all, by praying. I have found that I never haven't had a prayer answered. I am trying all approaches to caring for myself recommended. I am open to thinking outside the box and trying most anything as long as it is something that makes sense.
What is working less well is that I cannot always afford the treatment that sounds like it may work.
What is remarkable is that I am more content and at peace with myself making much less money than when I was working
Hi Karen,
ReplyDeleteI love what you say about relating to the image of a classic car! Thanks for sharing. You say you are finally back on your feet after illness and life changes. Will you please elaborate on how your body is functioning at this point in your life. If you could change anything about how your body is functioning, what would you change and why?
Will you please say more about what healthy eating looks like for you? I know that prayer is very important to you. What else do you do to take care of yourself? How is your approach to taking care of yourself mentally and physically working/not working?
What does being "open to thinking outside the box" mean for you in terms of your health? Will you please share an example or two? You are open to trying almost anything-what would be an example of something you try and/or would try in terms of your approach to health? Finally, what specific treatments would you try if you could afford them and why would you need such treatments?
Thanks of your time!
After my coma, I had to learn to walk all over again. I am able to take care of my needs without help. I wish my body was pain free or at least tolerable without having to rely on medication.
DeleteHealthy eating for me is eating as close to the source as I can. Fresh vegetables and fruits, and very little meat. I am diabetic and I have also had to have my stomach redirected as scar tissue had grown and blocked off where the food generally goes, so, I dont eat a whole lot and try to make is as healthy as possible.
I love taking my dogs for walks. My house is surrounded on three sides by a national forest. problem is that after the last time I went, I was in my yard and heard some real loud snorting., Sounded like a big bull, thinking it was a large buck dear, but we do have bears in these woods also, so now I am afraid to walk in the forest. This really is too bad as I find serenity in the forest, interacting with nature and away from busyness. I dont really care to be something elses dinner though.
I am willing to try almost any kind of treatments that could help. I always check reviews before I try anything, and would look it up to see what others thought before I would go through with it.
Hello
ReplyDeleteMy body is not functioning so well at this time, but my outlook on things is a very content one. I spent many years with horses, barrel raced for about thirty years, then raising race horses. I have taken a beating from that and am now paying the price, although I wouldn't have changed a thing. I wish my back was better, along with the arthritis that goes throughout my body, limiting me on doing the things I once could do. My health has also affected my ability to work, and it has been difficult for me mentally knowing I can no longer go to work. It has taken a couple of years, but it seems like after my last near death experience, I have been into gardening, both flowers and vegetables. I prefer to eat food as close to the natural source that I can, so I also started to dehydrate foods this year. I have many types of fruit now growing, and I love just wandering around my yard eating my own fresh fruit. I am also diabetic, and finally have myself on a much healthier less sugar and carbs food. There isn't much I wouldn't try to improve my health and well being.
I have thought that I would like to try acupuncture primarily to see if it would help with my back issues. We also have someone that takes a patients stem cells (?) and re-injects them into trouble spots in their body. I hold a specialty degree in holistic health and believe their is a strong co-relation between mental and physical health and positive thinking.
Thanks for adding this, Karen. Wow, barrel racing! That is neat. I'm sorry you are feeling it now though. What do you mean by "we also have someone that takes a patients stem cells and re-injects them into trouble spots in their body"? Who is "we"? Is this something you have tried or would like to try and why or why not?
ReplyDeletethere is a nurse practitioner that used to work at the pain clinic I used to go to. I stopped going there because they had me overmedicated with a fentynal patch, 6 norcos a day and a couple of other things that they told me I would never be able to get off of. I thought the fentanyl was a bit of overdoing it, but they said I had to accept that I would be on it the rest of my life. Anyway, one of the practitioners there opened up a clinic of his own where he tries several different alternatives. One of them, something like they take red blood cells {?} and they inject it into the injured area, seemed different to what I have tried. I really cant afford the shots though, they give them once a week and the co pay would really add up. I am pretty much limited financially to what is available to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen.
